******Warning Buggy Chips******
There have been batches of cheap Chinese cables doing the rounds of Ebay and other retail outlets, and a small amount have turned up in our stock. The main difference is that you must use old FTDI drivers to get these cables to work. The driver information is given below:

It is easier to sell these off at very cheap prices as a buggy chip, rather than run extensive tests on the current suspicious stock. You may get a good one that works with the latest drivers, or you may get a buggy one that requires you to run an old version of the driver.

We have plenty of new stock of these cables which are guaranteed to run the very latest version of FTDI drivers.

If for any reason there is no Voltage label on the cable, then the above pictures show you how to identify them. The plastic inside the connector housing will be black for 3.3 Volts, and white for 5 Volts.

You can also test the voltage by plugging the unit into a USB port and measuring the voltage between Ground and any data pin.

Need a TTL-232R-5V-WE or a TTL-232R-3V3-WE cable? All Audio Jack type cables have 6 colour coded wires inside, so all you need to do is cut the AJ connector off, and strip the sheathing back to the required length.

See the color coded table at:

The TTL-232R-3V3-AJ ("audio jack") is a USB to Serial (TTL level) converter cable which allows for a simple way to connect TTL serial interface devices to USB. This version of FTDI's USB to TTL serial adapter cable uses a 3.5mm audio jack on the serial interface and has it's I/O pins configured to operate at 3.3V levels.

The TTL-232R-3V3-AJ uses a FT232RQ device which is housed inside the USB 'A' connector, and is terminated at the end of a 1.8 m (70") cable with a 3.5 mm audio jack which provides access to transmit (Tx), receive (Rx), and GND signals.

The TTL-232R-3V3-AJ is fully RoHS compliant and is supplied loose packed in an anti-static bag. It is FCC and CE approved.

NOTE Window 7 Users:
If you simply plug in the FTDI device, you should find that the drivers will auto-install.

You will find the drivers for all other systems at: This includes Windows 8, and all other Windows Versions, Linux, Mac OS X, Windows CE. See the above URL address for full version information.
